Panama City is only a 5.5hr direct flight away from NYC. To get there, book a flight to Panama City Tocumen (PTY). Complimentary transportation occurs from the Casco Viejo district in Panama City. A shuttle will bring everyone back to Panama City on the final day. Plan to depart that evening, or stay a night in the city and leave the following morning.

All prices are per person and include all meals, accommodations, one group surf lesson, yoga & 5R® at Sansara, as well as shuttle from the city to the resort. Excursions, alcohol, airfare, and hotel stay in Panama City are not included.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cambutal & Sansara

How do I get to Sansara?
We are located in Cambutal, Panama and the closest airport is the Tocumen International Airport (PTY). Once you have landed in Panama, you can reach us by car, bus, charter plane or private car shuttle. If travelling to Sansara outside of the group transportation we can assist you in arranging transportation prior to your arrival so please contact us with any questions you may have.

Where is the beach?
Sansara is situated beachfront with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean at your doorstep. Enjoy the ease of walking down our wooden deck onto the black sand beach. You are steps away from finding yourself enjoying endless miles of beach combing, enjoying the fish with the best snorkeling in the area, stand-up-paddling, kayaking and surfing all right outside the doorstep of your beachfront cabana!

How far is the nearest town?
We are located in the beach community of Cambutal. There are minimal shops on the beach, which is part of the appeal. However there are small grocery stores, coffee shop, and few great restaurants nearby. The closest neighboring town (20 minute drive) is Tonosi. There you can find Bank services (ATM), bigger grocery stores, gas station and hospital located here.

What is the weather like?
With the average temperature holding steady in between 82 and 91 degrees Fahrenheit (Between 28 and 33 degrees Celsius), you’re bound to love the weather at Sansara no matter what time of year you plan your trip to Cambutal! Chilly nights are a rarity and we recommend you pack for the sun. Cambutal, Panama is seated in the arco seco, or the “dry Pacific arc”, a nickname given to the area because of the low rainfall it experiences during its rainy season. Here is an overview of what to expect from the weather in Cambutal and a few other details to help you plan your trip at the optimal time for you: Dry Season (December through May) this is the peak season for surfing, river/waterfall excursions, hiking, and optimal sun tanning. Experiencing little to no rainfall each day leaves you feeling sun-kissed and refreshed by the warm ocean waters. Green Season (June through November) During this season you can expect sunshine on and off with scattered rain showers and puffy white clouds. For the most part, it is generally very nice out every day. When large storms move in, you can expect rain all day for a few days. Usually these “temporals” last two to three days and happen a few times a year, but quickly clear and the weather is nice once again. Some of the advantages of visiting at this time of year is seeing the surrounding jungle is at its lushest, the surf is still up, whale watching is very rewarding, and you can witness the hatching of thousands of baby sea turtles.

Can I arrive early or stay later than the retreat?
Yes. Contact us and let us know when you want to arrive or leave, and we’ll be happy to assist you in making arrangements that best suit your vacation. What if I’ve never surfed or done yoga? No need to be intimidated. Everyone has to start somewhere and we provide a comfortable, supportive environment where you can feel safe trying out surfing or yoga. If neither is for you, there are many other activities at the resort and in the area that will make your trip well worthwhile.
